Hiking Deseret Peak in Stansbury Mountains

This was a great hike. I have hike all over the Wasatch Mountains but I had never been in these mountains before. As you entered them you wondered if there were going to be trees at all it was all shrub brush and i almost expected to see some cactus. As we got further along on the road to the trail you began to see aspen trees and finally during the hike we approached the pine trees.
Rae, Dad, and Corey (i was taking the picture)

See all the lovely Pine Trees....... I totally miss the pine smell being in NYC. Except at Christmas time with all the tree stands on the corners. That is the next best thing:)
Corey and I decided to Hike it again and make it to the top for our Anniversary. It was great. We came across a couple of wild turkeys (they wouldn't pose for the camera so didnt' get their picture), and 3 deer. The Deer scurried off the trail but stopped close by to watch us. I got some good pictures.
Here is the Meadow right before the Very Tip Top. It was verybig and had these beautiful purple and yellow flowers all over. The camera didn't realy pick that up. You can see how big the meadow is with corey in the middle. You can hardly see him. The mountain canyon you are looking toward is the Antelope Canyon. (it isn't the canyon we hiked up.)
Because the Weatherman forcasted rain when we got to the meadow we saw a bunch of very dark clouds gathering and so not being prepared with rain gear decided not to go the last 1/4 mile to the very peak. The elevation was 11000 feet. I have to say that being in NYC so long i think the altitude got to me a little. NYC is making me such a softie.
